tie top yarn

After searching the two "local" Michaels stores & one of the two AC Moore stores for Lion Brand Cotton-Ease (50/50 Cotton/Acrylic) which the pattern calls for, I caved and bought many balls (eleven, I think) of TLC Cotton Plus which is 51% Cotton/49% Acrylic in Red.

My older sister, Clarissa, was with me in AC Moore and helped me choose the color. I almost bought a pale blue, but they didn't have enough in one dye-lot. Clarissa is visiting from Florida this week and she kept on pointing out yarns she liked & colors she loved, then asked me to knit her a sweater of some sort. I told her that I could but wasn't sure if I would. I really need to see how this, my first forray into the sweater world, works out before I go knitting them for other people (though Clarissa is much less busty than I am and a whole lot thinner so the experience might be quite a lot easier).

I'm pretty pleased with my choice (even though I usually hate the color red), but I'm very nervous about re-sizing this pattern. I'm partway through it, though. I might take it to S&B with me, the next time I get to go, and ask for advice/opinions. I hate that I had to miss S&B again tonight, but I was out with my mom & sisters for much of the afternoon and since my car is STILL in the shop (NOT getting fixed!) and I've been borrowing my mom's car & asking for babysitters like crazy this week, I decided to forego it again. My fingers are crossed that I get there next week!

I am not a fond one of red either but that is GORGEOUS!

Cant wait to see how the knitting goes. If you are worried about the resizing start with parts that dont need to be resized (sleeves are a good start..smaller quicker and gives you an idea of how it will all knit up).
